Who we are

Scott Byers, trading as Aethercode, develops Gumleaf Grove and operates this website. This policy explains how we handle information in the game, on the Aethercode website, and when you contact us about Gumleaf Grove.

The game

Gumleaf Grove is a single-player game. You do not need an account. We do not collect or upload your gameplay activity, save files, ranger choices, koala names, preferences, or in-game photos.

The game saves these details on your device. Its camera takes pictures of the game world; it does not use your device’s camera or access your Photos library. We do not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or social messaging in the game.

Gumleaf Grove does not provide cloud saves. Your device’s backup and restore settings may include local app data. Apple controls those services under its own privacy policy.

If you join a TestFlight beta, Apple may share diagnostics and feedback you submit, including screenshots, with us. We use those reports to investigate problems. Apple controls their availability and retention through TestFlight. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information.

Getting help

Contacting us is optional. If you email us or use the support form, we receive your email address, your message, and any other information you choose to include. The form also sends the topic you select and your confirmation that you are an adult. Please use a parent or guardian’s email address for a child’s support request.

We use this information to answer your question, investigate a problem, and handle privacy requests. We do not add you to a mailing list, sell your information, or use support messages for advertising.

Amazon Web Services hosts the website and processes form submissions. Mailtrap delivers form messages to our support inbox. Google Workspace handles the inbox and email forwarding. These providers process information for the services they supply to us, under their applicable service and data-protection terms. We use them only for these operational purposes.

The form does not accept attachments. Please do not include passwords, payment details, a child’s real name, school, address, or other sensitive information. If a screenshot would help, we can discuss it in our reply.

This website

We do not use advertising cookies, visitor analytics, third-party video players, or marketing trackers. We host the game video, images, and fonts with the website.

Our hosting and security providers process technical information, including IP addresses and requests, to deliver pages and protect the service. For the support form, we use a protected, rotating value derived from your IP address to limit repeated submissions. We store short-lived request counts, not your message, in that abuse-prevention system.

We do not record support message bodies or email addresses in application logs. We do not store a draft of your message in browser storage. Mailtrap and our email inbox do retain the messages they deliver.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep support conversations while we work on your request and for up to 12 months after the conversation closes, then delete them from our active support records. If we must retain information to meet a legal obligation or resolve a dispute, we keep only what is needed for that purpose.

Mailtrap keeps detailed email logs, including delivered message content, for three days under our current plan. Our form’s application logs expire after seven days. Abuse-prevention counters expire after 48 hours; automatic removal from storage may take additional time. Service-provider backups may retain deleted information until their normal backup cycle completes.

You can remove individual in-game photos from the album. Starting a new game replaces your active story after saving succeeds and clears its album. If the album cannot be cleared, the game tells you. Preferences and personal records remain. Removing the app through your device settings removes its local app data; device backups are managed separately in your Apple settings. If you need help with a save, contact us before starting over or removing the app.

Children and families

Children can play Gumleaf Grove without providing personal information to us. Our support form is intended for adults, including parents and guardians. If you are a child, please ask a grown-up to contact us for you.

If we learn that a child has sent us personal information, we will delete information we do not need to address a parent or guardian’s request. A parent or guardian can contact us to ask us to review or delete information about their child.

Your choices and contact

You can ask to access, correct, or delete information you have sent us, or withdraw a support request, by emailing support+gumleaf@aethercode.com. We may ask for enough information to confirm that the request is yours. We cannot access the game’s local save files from our support inbox.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, including the right to object to certain processing or complain to your local data-protection authority. Our service providers may process information in countries outside your own.

We will update this page if our practices change and show the new date above. You can also visit Gumleaf Grove support for help with the game.
